Steven Prince – Director

Joining Farmer Mutual Group during 2006 introduced Steven to the insurance industry with his first insurance position as Claims Officer,  where he quickly progressed into a Business Manager role fostering broker and agent relationships. After several years in this role, Steve decided to explore Insurance Broking.

An opportunity arose at Sirius Risk Services on the Gold Coast were he spent 2 years working closely with Senior Account Managers broadening his technical knowledge on complex accounts including  Industrial Special Risk, Heavy Motor Fleets, Liability and Professional Risk.

Steve moved back to Albury early 2010 as an insurance consultant at a local firm. Wanting to develop his underwriting expertise he joined global underwriter, Allianz Australia during 2013. Again, becoming responsible for broker and agent business, providing technical advice and support to all intermediaries.

Steve commenced with OVIB in March 2016 becoming a partner in June 2016.

He holds a Diploma of General Insurance and Diploma of Insurance Broking and is a Senior Associate with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) as a Certified Insurance Professional (CIP).


What did you want to be when you grew up?
Like all young boys fighting crime was always appealing, I always wanted to be a Detective

What do you like to do on weekend?
Being social I avoid spending time at home, whether it’s heading home seeing family and friends, exercise, watch the local footy or head up the mountains to disconnect and  recharge my batteries.

What is the highlight of your life thus far?
When I was 8 years, we use to order pizza and answer the front door dressed in Ninja Turtles outfits. Ahhhh the memories!!

Best thing about your job?
Meeting and interacting with so many different people everyday, you also learn plenty about a wide range of industries


Katie Paul – Director

Katie has been involved in the Financial Services industry since 2009, where she first started at the ANZ Banking Group working in both Albury NSW and Wangaratta VIC. She then progressed to an adviser role at Insurance Advisernet Merimbula in 2011 after moving from her hometown of Myrtleford for a sea change.

After 5 years in Merimbula NSW, Katie moved back to Myrtleford VIC, and began working with Ovens Valley Insurance Brokers as an Account Executive in January 2017, becoming a partner in July 2017.

Katie has brought to the team a very organised and structured way of operating . Her skills are greatly assisting with the rapid continued growth of her knowledge of the insurance industry.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Rich. I didn’t know how I’d get there, but it was always the goal!

What do you like to do on weekends?
I like to spend time at home on the farm with my partner Jason, and catch up with friends and family over a few wines. I’m also involved with Whorouly Football Netball Club, so most of my time during the footy season is spent travelling around the Ovens and King districts playing netball and supporting the club.

What is the highlight of your life thus far?
Definitely travelling Europe with Jason in 2016 for 3 months – something we will never forget (or stop talking about)

Best thing about your job?
My colleagues are a joy to be around, so I always look forward to spending  the work week with them.

Carmel Ardern – Account Executive

Carmel joined the Ovens Valley Insurance Brokers team during 2012, after a change of occupations.

Being a born & bred local, Carmel relates to clients at all levels and is dedicated to providing the best possible service. Her polite but firm approach to negotiating with underwriters and providing client service have seen her quickly become a valuable member of our team.

Carmel recently completed her Tier 1 Certification (ANZIIF) and is utilising her skills, learning the particulars of the insurance industry and stepping into the commercial insurance space.


What did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher/childcare worker or a hairdresser

What do you like to do on weekends?
Spend time with my husband and catch up with friends. When I can, I visit my children and their partners who now live in Melbourne, but most excitingly, I travel down to see my beautiful new granddaughter, Allie!

What is the highlight of your life thus far?
Definitely my children and granddaughter…oh yeah, and marrying my husband too!

Best thing about your job?
The whole environment of my work place. It’s fun – the support is amazing
